Cranes

Seven of the world’s 15 species of cranes are found in Russia. The country harbors 90 percent of the global nesting habitats for rare red-crowned and white-naped cranes and all of the world’s nesting areas for Siberian cranes. Two crane breeding and reintroduction centers - in Oksky Zapovednik and Khingansky Zapovednik - work to save rare cranes from extinction in the wild. Cherniye Zemly Zapovednik harbors a high concentration of nesting demoiselle cranes.
