White Storks

Mercenaries of peace and happiness, white storks offer fodder for folklore and superstitions in the Russian countryside. Unlike their wary black cousins, white storks prefer to nest near human settlements in European Russia, where they find protection from predators, perches for their large nests, and forest clearings and shallow lakes in which to search for food - frogs, fish, snails, and insects.
