Oksky Zapovednik
Oksky is one of Russia’s oldest and most prestigious zapovedniks, created in 1935 in the Ryazan Province southeast of Moscow. The reserve runs rare crane and European bison breeding centers as well as a program to restore the threatened Russian desman, which inhabits floodplain lakes along the Oka River.
